By learning how gifted pupils think, you’ll be able to channel their engagement and accelerate their progress. Many highly gifted children have unique thinking and behavioral patterns that can be identified early on, such as;

  • Rapid processing of complex thoughts
  • Heavy demand for stimulation
  • Deep focus on certain subjects of interest

At the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai (RGSGD) we understand that these and other characteristics need to be addressed with the right pedagogy, observation, assessment, and monitoring of progress. This enables our Heads of Department, Subject Teachers and Leaders of Activities to identify areas where pupils are demonstrating evidence of being Able, Gifted or Talented.

As such we adhere to an Able, Gifted and Talented (AGT) policy underpinned by the belief that all our pupils are Able, Gifted or Talented in at least one area of educational endeavour. This is reflected in our value of Scholarship in which the opportunity for academic and co-curricular stretch and challenge is encouraged in all of our pupils.

RGSGD has as its core philosophy –  that the potential of all pupils is realised when the learning experience is differentiated, enabling a personalised and aspirational education. At RGSGD we ensure that our gifted pupils are actively engaged and excited by presenting abstract concepts to sustain attention and deepen knowledge. Exposing our pupils to unique perspectives inspires them.

A pupil-centered learning environment encourages pupils to take charge of their own education and to work collaboratively with the teachers to explore their own journey. This is not only a highly-engaging practice, but can also uncover intelligence and traits that may help gifted pupils explore their boundaries further, pushing themselves to new heights.

It is essential that pace and challenge are suitably matched for all pupils, knowing that gifted pupils grasp concepts more easily, often work very rapidly and require less instruction to consolidate learning.

Differentiated grouping allows gifted children to share their knowledge and specialism in the classroom and more broadly within the school community.

The provision of activities for Able, Gifted and Talented pupils is always available to all pupils in recognition of the fact that children develop educationally at different rates and times, and that they benefit from the mutual learning environment.

At RGSGD we acknowledge that every child is different, and that no rigid education plan will be able to adequately address every pupils needs. We’re committed to creating an inclusive environment that adapts to each child’s requirements, and we work with parents and pupils alike to provide the best education for our community.

If you want to find a school for your gifted child to expand their horizons and work with other gifted learners, RGSGD can provide a home away from home where their educational needs will be catered to and considered at every turn.
